It was a pleasure to be part of The Children In Need Big Learner Relay Committee and to welcome Louise Walsh to Plymouth on behalf of the APDI.On a dreadfully rainy Monday evening Louise was driven into the Leisure Centre car park by Ollie Taylor, from the Honest Truth under blue flashing lights. We had photographs taken in the Leisure Centre with Pudsey (thanks to Laurie) and all had fun. We left there being convoyed by Bev and her pupil (son) Josh to The Harvester, Plympton. We had supper here and Louise received a complimentary meal. Many thanks to The Unicorn. We were also given balloons for the following day.

Early on Tuesday morning we arrived at Marsh Mills and with balloon decorated cars we were convoyed by Andy and his pupil Matt to Morrison´s Tavistock. It was a great sight to see all the instructor cars convoying, with balloons trailing, through the busy morning traffic.

We arrived at Morrison´s Tavistock and were met by Pudsey (thanks to Chris Gardner) and our ex Chairman Larry, who did a splendid job. Here a BBC Spotlight Children In Need Reporter interviewed Louise and photographs were taken. Sam with his pupil, Lauren, then convoyed on to Sourton Cross Little Chef.

The journey to Sourton Cross was beautiful. The scenery across the moors was stunning and appreciated by Louise. Here complimentary Teas, Coffees and Hot Chocolate met us. Thank you Little Chef. James was waiting here for us. He had driven up from Redruth, approximately 70 miles to be part of The Big Learner Relay, so well done James. At this stage the remaining members of APDI left to return to Plymouth.

It was an honour to be part of The Big Learner Relay and the total amount raised so far as I write is a staggering £31,449.41!

The Just Giving web address is www.justgiving.com/teams/biglearnerrelay and the web address for our local APDI is www.justgiving.com/APDISW and our total is £664 so far.

July’s Monthly Meeting BBQ
Fun was had by all at this month´s meeting. We decided on a free of charge BBQ for all members who were able to attend. Sorry to those who were away on holiday. A lovely evening weather wise and a big thank you to Pat of Tamar View Community Complex and his staff for cooking the delicious food. Hopefully this will be the first of many. 🙂 www.tamarview.co.uk
